Reviews for Kids by Kids invites teachers and parents to encourage their children to participate.

A new educational website, Musing Our Children, presented by several writers, offers the opportunity for parents and teachers to join them. Their mission: show children the benefits of reading and writing via classroom visits and through their review site aimed for children eighteen and under.

Teachers are encouraged to have their students read a book and then submit a short review to “Reviews by Kids For Kids”. For guidelines on review submissions, click here:
http://musingourchildren.tripod.com/id27.html

Musing our Children also offers a FREE online PDF download, “Pages and Pens-your tools to imagination” for teachers to use within their classrooms. Within each PDF, you’ll find such topics as:

-suggested reading books
-interviews with children authors
-geography info on various cities in each issue
-reading and writing tips from writers
and more.

Musing Our Children is the brainchild of Lea Schizas, founder of the MuseitUp Club, an online critique community and a Writer’s Digest 101 Best Writing Site since 2005.

In conjunction with Musing Our Children I'm pleased to announce Musing Book Reviews by Kids.

Have you read a good book lately? What did you think of the newest Harry Potter book? We welcome your thoughts and invite you to send us your review - you need to be under seventeen, sorry, no grownups here.

FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS:

Our guidelines are quite simple and we'd love to have your children/students participating all year round. This will not only encourage them to read, but to write and read their published review online.

We need you to help them send us the following:

their first name
their age and grade level
city and country
the title and author of the book they read
their review - couldn't have a review site without reviews.
email it to: Lea Schizas:
museitupeditor@yahoo.ca -- Make sure to place KIDS REVIEW on the subject heading.

That's it. Nice and easy.

We can't wait to read all the reviews to come our way.

TEACHERS, PLEASE LINK HERE.

4th Grade Class participated in the Kids Book Reviews - Musing Our Children reading and writing activity during the 4th quarter of the 2007-08 school year.

The students read the book Shiloh, by Phyllis Reynold Naylor.

Upon completion and submission of their book reviews, I made a class visit to the students and presented them with a booklet of their book reviews and a certificate of participation.

The students were especially thrilled to learn their class will have a designated page on the Musing Our Children website and that their reviews will be published for the world to see.

The link is forthcoming and I will share it with you all when it is ready.
